Bass Lake, this spot offers beaches, rental boats and even an evening cruise
on the Bass Lake Queen. Water toys are also available to rent
for family fun and adventure.
Bass Lake is its own small community with shops, lodges, camp sites, and
excellent restaurants. Activities include, but are not limited

10k & Fun Run, and Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show;

Bass Lake, key to central California's first hydroelectric generating project, has developed
into a major resort and water sports
facility. The reservoir was created in 1895, flooding an
area originally known as Crane Valley because the lush meadows attracted flocks of Sand Hill cranes
Popular for power boaters and fishermen, the lake and
the U.S. Forest Service Recreation Area surrounding it offers
a wealth of camping and picnicking opportunities. Resorts on both
sides of the lake feature a wide range of dining and lodging facilities.
The counties only fireworks display is featured every fourth of
July. Each spring, a fishing derby offers thousands of dollars
in prizes.
The Pines Village, the community
center for the area, recreates the look and feel of an alpine
village. The Village features lodging, dining, shopping,
post office, market, all the necessities of life.
The are is a
popular place for production of movies and video commercials.
Two of the movies filmed in the area are, "The Great Outdoors"
and more recently, "Mouse Hunt."
Real estate in the area ranges from small vacation cabins to larger
lakefront estates, as well as a popular retirement community which
is located conveniently close to the Pines Village
